Trial Before Pontius Pilate

Updated: Apr 3

Conversations with GOD

The day came when I stood before the governor, Pontius Pilate, bound and accused, a spectacle for all to see. The chief priests and elders brought their accusations against Me, but I opened not My mouth. For the Scriptures must be fulfilled, and the Lamb of God must be led to the slaughter.

Pilate, sitting on his judgment seat, looked upon Me with a questioning gaze. He asked, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And I replied, “You say that I am.” But Pilate was troubled, for he saw no guilt in Me. He sought to release Me, for he knew that the accusations were driven by envy, not truth.

Yet the crowd cried out, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” And though Pilate sought to reason with them, their hearts were hardened. They desired My blood, and their voices drowned out the call for justice. I am the King of the Jews, but My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight to deliver Me from the hands of the enemy. But My kingdom is not from here.

Pilate turned to Me again, asking, “What is truth?” But he did not wait for an answer, for he was seeking to satisfy the crowd, not to seek the truth. I am the Truth, but the world rejected the light because their deeds were evil. Pilate, in his fear of the people and his desire to keep his position, washed his hands of the matter and declared, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. It is your responsibility.” Yet in doing so, he sealed his own fate, for no man is truly innocent when he casts aside justice.

The crowd, in their fury, replied, “Let His blood be on us and on our children.” And so it was, for their choice brought upon them a great consequence. The sin of rejecting the Son of God would be upon them, and the destruction of Jerusalem would come.

Pilate, seeing that he could do nothing to appease the people, ordered that I be scourged. The soldiers mocked Me, placing a crown of thorns upon My head and a reed in My hand, bowing before Me in mock worship, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” They struck Me, and the blood flowed from My body. Yet still, I did not resist, for it was the Father’s will that I should suffer because of the sins of the world.

Pilate brought Me out before the crowd once more, hoping that seeing Me so beaten and bloodied would stir their compassion. But they cried all the more, “Crucify Him!”

And so, the hour had come. The Son of God was handed over to be crucified. My trial was not one of justice, but of Divine purpose. The Lamb of God was slain, and through My death, the world could be redeemed.

Pilate, though innocent in his own eyes, was complicit in the unjust judgment. Yet My heart was not filled with anger, but with love — love for those who condemned Me, love for those who mocked Me, and love for you, who would come to believe in My name. Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Note: These are my personal conversations with GOD. If you want a relationship with Him, as revealed in His message, simply remember to be still and you will know… (Psalm 46:10)
